Bespoke Digital Tile Commission, Cheltenham
A commission that was gratefully received during the lockdown period! A private client contacted me to produce tiling for her kitchen. After much searching, Lauren couldn’t find tiles she like for her new home and rang to enquire whether I could produce some for her. We discussed colour ways and designs, she wanted something mosaic like but more cost effective than handmade mosaics, so I suggested a digitally produced and fired option. Following this initial consultation, I produced designs for her approval. I threw in a ‘wild card’ not to her colour brief and she opted for this! I created several individual tiles that combined well together and, on her approval, these were sent to a manufacturer in Stoke on Trent for print and fire. These were sent directly to her and a local tiler completed the installation. I’m really pleased to say she was over the moon!
My first commission of purely digitally designed tiles has opened up new ways of meeting a client’s brief and I’m excited about potential projects of this kind…
