Really Pleased to be Exhibiting my Artwork at Ikon Gallery

Really pleased to be exhibiting my artwork at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham. The exhibition ‘Ikon for Artists’ was organised to support Birmingham based artists during these challenging times, where we’ve all been impacted by the pandemic. There’s a huge range of artwork to see, with over 250 of us exhibiting. My submission is something slightly different to my normal work and is a large scale digital artwork (120x150cm)
Over the last couple of years I’ve been photographing plants and flowers down at our allotment site, the biggest in Birmingham in fact ! I’ve taken the photographs and manipulated them digitally, playing with filters on Photoshop. From these creative experiments, I was excited to see some characters emerge, a kind of ‘spirit’ of the plant or flower, I’m calling them ‘Elementals’ for now! The piece I submitted for this exhibition is the first time I’ve shared these explorations. Titled ‘Leonurus Cardiaca – Lion-Heart Calling’ this digital art print focuses on the herb ‘Motherwort’, I hope I’ve done her proud! It was a real treat to see the artwork off screen and Giclée printed at a large scale and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey; a private passion outside of my usual public commissions.
In the gallery I’ve shared some of my favourite work from other Birmingham based artists exhibiting, as I said there’s a huge range of work on show here, proud to be part of this Brummie Collective!
